about Willows

Willows is a peer-to-peer parent support group. We work together with industry educators and the community to help bring support and education to parents who have sent their teens to therapeutic boarding school programs. Willows provides safe and effective support meetings for the families while their teens are in residential care. We also promote ongoing education and awareness to prepare for the process of transition and aftercare once their teens graduate and return to their home and community. Meetings are held monthly in Los Altos, California.

Willows was founded by alumna parent Jan Rao who joined forces with Robin Sacks, also an alumna parent. Willows specializes in support for parents whose teens are enrolled in programs which include family based training workshops. Having had their own experiences making this decision, and transitioning their daughters from Spring Ridge Academy in Arizona, Jan and Robin understand the pitfalls and successes that accompany the process of integrating these young men and women back into their families and communities.

Parents meet monthly to discuss topics such as establishing the path home, core values, family agreements, the art of active listening, addictive behavior, relapse, parenting your graduate, and knowing when to let go. Guest speakers will provide professional guidance to both parents and graduates.

Willows In The Wind is a non-profit charity organization and is supported by donations. If you would like to help support this project, we invite you to contact us, or you may send your donation to:
